EL015 ELECTRICAL

With 12V conversions I understand that the dynamo has to run faster to get the voltage up to charge the battery.
What are the speeds involved and should I fit a smaller pulley on the dynamo? My Venom dynamo is a Lucas E3L. - David Royston 11/11/2002.

The dynamo still runs at the original speed, and the electronic regulator produces the 12v - don't ask me how.
It would be wrong to run the later E3L 60w dynamo with a smaller pulley unless you were only ever going to use low revs. Paradoxically the later 60w dynamos ran slower than the earlier 35w ones but this was because they got their extra power by having a heavier armature.
I have two 60w running on larger pulleys and giving ample power once on the move. - TW 11/11/2002
