Wish to convert to 12 volts on venom have 12 volt regulator dave Lindsley, but need at lest 9 AMP battery, and to wish to have old black battery box for looks can` t find for sale 12 volt 9amp in original black box, or battery of that AMP to fit into a original battery case.Can this be purchased and were. - Reg Callow 28/4/2002

I know of no 12V, 9AH battery that will slide into the shell of an old black battery, or even into a fibreglass replica of it with its thinner case.
On my electronic 12V Venoms I use larger 12V batteries in neat home made housings, but on my 6v bikes I just put a Honda 90 battery in, or nowadays I use a Burlen sealed 6v unit. Neither has the capacity of the original black battery, but they hold enough AH for any normal usage today. So if you can find a small 12V battery that fits in the black case, even of just 4 or 5 AH, I think it would be OK - TW 28/4/2002

Over the last few years I have bought 3 sealed 6v batteries from Burlen at 01722 412500
The main advantage, apart from being sealed, is that they do indeed hold their charge as advertised - 80% after a year appears to be true, so far.
