CL015 CLUTCH
Could you please advise on how to establish the amount of shims required
behind BK70 (Clutch operating thrust pad)
I seem to remember reading somewhere that at a 0.025" lift on C29/26
(Clutch operating thrust cup) the face of C29/26 should be parallel to the face
of the gearbox is this correct? if not how is this setting made? - Eric Cox

I think your setting method might well be correct, but the only one I have
seen, and it seems logical, is the one I use which is -
With the clutch off (of course) you adjust the cable to take up all slack (while
pressing the frying pan back to give some resistance; and after ensuring that
with a totally slack cable the small pushrod C30 or C30/2 [two alternative
lengths for selective assembly] is of such a length that it just peeps out of
the gearbox face so that the frying pan is almost, but not quite, able to go
back to touch the gearbox face with a slack cable), then arrange the thrust pad
shimming so that the frying pan appears parallel to the gearbox face when the
clutch lever is half way back to the bars.
I don't think it is that critical, except the thing to avoid is having it
parallel on zero lift because then it can be so tilted on full lift that the
'handle' of the frying pan can rub on the clutch backplate. - TW 7/6/2003
