I have long held the dream of owning a Velocette, this year due to circumstances it came true!
Having purchased a load of back numbers of Fishtail and read the excellent articles I have been convinced that getting a Velo was a good move on my part - others may disagree but then I am an individual as well as the bike. I attended the 'run' to Clay Mills pumping Station Burton on Trent this Sunday past and was very well received by the other Velo owners who made it - one from south of London who set off at 7.00am - that is dedication in my view - thoroughly enjoyed the event - anyway super magazine; wonderful bit of English engineering; ecstatic feeling thumping along the A50 with heads turning all the way- just what Sunday morning cruisin' is all about.
Having surfed the net and the Velocette Owners Club web page in particular , would thank all the members who telephoned in response to my advert for a Venom, offering their bikes to me ( when I was looking to buy- sorry guys I found one - a 1959 Venom ) and can now attach a picture of "Princess". I purchased it locally and am very pleased with it. It has 12v conversion for electrics; transistorised ignition and a concentric carb- starting her is a bit of fun - so in common with most Velos 'it is fairly standard' so to speak. I fixed up Insurance through Roadsure ltd - roadsure@bikequote.com and received excellent service- talking to a biker to arrange insurance is always good- as well as what I feel a good deal at a good price.
Anyway, I have waffled enough - good to be part of the family!
