Arrive on the Friday morning all fired up for some great racing.
Very aware that we are 11 points ahead and can't afford to have a DNF in our two races.
Went out for a couple of practices and Bill came in saying that the clutch was a bit funny on the last lap.
Close inspection showed that all of the fingers on the back plate had sheared off and with
no spare this was going to be a disastrous weekend.
Fortunately Peter Butterworth came to the rescue and said we could have one off
his MSS. So Nick went off to Peter's home to modify this.
3 hours later they were back with a modified MAC backplate.
On fitting it I found that we could fully tighten the sleeve gear nut as it made the
springs coil bound.
We would have to rely on the sleeve gear locking tab!
Well to cut a long story short this held for the weekend and we finished our two races, Race 1 with a 3rd behind the ES2 and a new GP that had
just been brought out. Race 2 with a 2nd behind the ES2.
We were rapt as this meant we had won the 500cc Clubmans Championship!!!!
Here's Bill just coming into the pits after the final race.
The last lap of the last race the bike had started missing and this was traced down to another broken mag spring! #springs broken
in 3 meetings.
We need to do some serious investigations.
To top the meeting off Bill was awarded the Velocette Trophy, which is a copy of a MKVIII engine in silver and stands about 3" tall.
He also was part of a NZ vs. Australia team in which NZ won!!
So all in all a great weekend.
